28"+ tires.
- Big tire kit for mud/skeg/trail use!
- Help to transfer the engine power and torque better to the tires.
- Makes up the power loss and slow response of using big tires.
- Better low end power and torque to get heavy tires turn in the mud.
- Reduced belt slip and heat.
Why bigger tires demand a clutch kit?
1. Bigger tires are heavier
Heavier rotating mass = more force required to get them moving. The stock clutch tries to pull too tall a “gear,” which causes:
- Sluggish takeoff
- Poor throttle response
- Engine working harder than it should
2. Larger diameter changes your gearing
- When the tire gets taller, your final drive ratio becomes longer. The engine now has to work in a lower RPM range than it was designed for.
- A clutch kit brings the RPM back into the engine’s powerband, where the Rotax actually makes torque.
3. Protects your belt
This is the big one.
Without proper clutching, the belt slips more because:
- The primary clutch engages too early
- The secondary doesn’t backshift fast enough
- The engine can’t reach the correct RPM
- Result: belt heat, glazing, premature wear, and eventually belt failure.
- A good clutch kit reduces belt slip dramatically.
4. Restores acceleration and low‑end torque
Bigger tires kill low‑end grunt. A clutch kit compensates by:
- Adjusting flyweight mass
- Changing spring rates
- Improving backshift response
- This gives you the “snap” back when you hit the throttle.
